I don't think it's censoring, but a copyright issue. For all Turtles-related stuff in Europe Ninja was replaced with Hero. Star Fox also used to be a copyright issue (Star Fox = Star Wing, Star Fox 64 = Lylat Wars, but they solved that before Star Foz Adventures).

Anyway, I didn't know there was an arcade version, but I played the SNES version a lot. I borrowed it from a friend for quite some time. I loved to play two-player mode, and I really liked all the different themed worlds and boss-battles. I know Slash was always a pain in the ass. I would really like to play this game again some time.
