I don't read mystery novels. If I read one and said "ITS THE BEST ONE I'VE EVER READ," my statement would be misleading and ultimately incorrect. I have no basis to judge what's actually good or not.
If I've never watched, for example, a game of cricket and one day decided to watch one in the local park, I could techincally say that one of those players was "the best cricket player I've ever seen" and it would be true. It wouldn't be valid towards anyone else, and it wouldn't have any weight.
For a gaming example: FF7 came out. A bunch of people I knew were screaming that it was the best RPG they've ever played. I asked them what RPG's they've actually played. Most had only played one or two. Do I respect their opinion on the game? Not really. If I heard that from someone that's played dozens upon dozens of console RPGs (at the time), I'd take the opinion with more weight.
