Well, considering FFI is 20 years old, you have to give the story writing a little break. But in my opinion, I did think Garland's pre-battle speech was kind of awesome.

I completely screwed up my FFX experience by doing this. I went all Sphere Grid crazy before entering Sin and wound up one-shotting Seymor and Jecht. Normally I don't go level crazy until my second playthrough so that really upsets me.
I'm kind of surprised no one mentioned Lyon and the Demon King from FE: The Sacred Stones. Lyon was just a horribly written character that tried so hard to make you feel sorry for him and failed so badly at it, and the Demon King was just too cliche and too easy to beat.
