Considering how much hype there is around it, it'd be nearly impossible to make. Especially with all the culture aliens complaining about games that are turn-based, and how people were complaining about Final Fantasy X being turn-based.
Also, good luck getting it past the "It's Too much LIKE Super Mario RPG, therefore it sucks!" or "It's not enough like Super Mario RPG therefore it sucks".
Erego I doubt they'd ever try making a direct sequel to it, especially with a lot of staff changes and how the standards in gaming have pretty much changed.

DO. Birth by Sleep is just giving her a more important role and featuring her world. Because it takes place 10 years before Kingdom Hearts did, the "Events" that take place in her world will happen, including what looks to be one of the coolest boss fights ever. By Kingdom Hearts, she was already captured and used as a cosmic keystone. (Although if one sequence-breaks early in the game and completes Deep Jungle before Neverland, you actually see Snow White getting captured instead of Alice.) So rather...they had her, they just didn't give her a central role beyond NPC you can speak to and Cosmic Keystone.
