The multiplayer in Hunters was a lot of fun...
...until it because clear that the game was horribly programmed and full of bugs. Then you couldn't get in a match without half the players hiding inside the walls, or using the freeze bug to freeze you from the other side of the map and then spawn kill you repeatedly. Then the gameshark people started showing up with infinate energy, flying around the levels, one shoting people.
And then the bizarre oversight where you could use whatever programing language the game was made with in your screen name, and it would actually change stuff in the game, up to and including deleting the files of the people you played against or even bricking their game card. (nintendo actually patched their servers to prevent people that used the offending characters in their names from connecting, which then in turn banned a lot of innocent players that just happened to have one or two of the characters in their names by chance. The ban was perminant once you tried to log on with an offending name too, so you couldn't just change your name to get back on. You had to actually delete your game file and start over.)
But the first few months before all that happened? The game was pretty fun.
On the plus side, they had a pretty cool rival system that worked well with the friend code BS, by letting you add any players you played against online to a list (As long as they agreed to it.) It would keep you updated on their records and let you know if they were online, so you could challenge them to rematches and private Friend/Rival games. Basicly, you could do anything with them that you could do with somebody on your friend list except talk to them using the mic before a game. It actually worked too. I had a lot of games with people on my rival list before the whole game went to hell.
