It seems to me that the only video game genre Mario hasn't appeared in is survival/horror. He's done everything else, including action-adventure, RPG, sports, racing, fighting, puzzle, edutainment, and even FPS (
Yoshi's Safari).
Then again, if we could count
Luigi's Mansion as survival/horror......
