| My idea goes hand in hand with that 'web 2.0 development' guide you made, and I happen to run a site or two which comply with Web 2.0 guidelines. I also know AJAX and javascript. All you need to do is cut down on the 'dead' links, then rearrange the front page into one or two columns using the remaining information. Then using some site-wide stylesheets, all the sections which aren't subsections could be made to look the same style-wise, and cleaned up where necessary. (SSS and NC both have very 'iconic' looks, which, since they are subsites, would explain why they don't need to be 100% linked to SMBHQ's style.) The issue is you might be looking at doing it all at once. That just isn't feasible without full time workers. But if you want to progressively clean up the layout, then all it takes is a little elbow grease every couple days. |
