You don't have to lead the ghosts in OoT anywhere, they're not disguised as maidens, and they don't become the boss.

Deku, that tide idea is awesome. I've always liked the idea of an underwater city, too. Not just a water temple or a submerged castle, but literally an entire city that's underwater. Maybe it would be a city that flooded over and was completely abandoned, and taken over by some race of evil fish-creatures (AKA River Zoraaaaas). Or Link could somehow get poisoned, and the dungeon would actually be Link's sub conscience fighting against the disease itself. It wouldn't even have to be inside the organs like Jabu Jabu's belly, but actually a wide variety of sceneries that Link would create in his head, or is forced to create because of the disease. This dungeon also has potential for a frighteningly awesome game over screen. |
Could work, but it would be impossible outside of linearity. (linearity in Zelda titles really irks me, seriously)
Nintendo seems to be big on mind****s like that, though, so it would be cool for
something. Actually, now that I think about it, that sequence could be triggered when you enter a specific place. There, now I'm happy.
Thinking back on Zelda II, it would be pretty sweet if they would bring back the Geru's fortress so you could infiltrate it. That was one of my favorite parts of AoL, navigating the pass. (lizard men)

Yeah, a maze of tunnels infested with something insect-like in nature would be pretty awesome. Kind of like the egg-mines in Morrowind only much more fleshed out. Speaking of mines, an enemy quarry would be a pretty cool thing to include in a game. Minions slaving away to build a keep for some warlord, perhaps.
