| Kirby is enjoying a wonderful day of making snowmen, when suddenly a mysterious group of cloaked monsters...tell him that he is guilty of stealing food. Then they suddenly use magic to transport him somewhere else... Kirby wakes up in a cell, where he has a cellmate Waddle Dee. This fellow reveals that he's been trapped for 5 years, and that the group of cloaked monsters have been going around planets, judging the locals and trapping them in an eternal prison dimension. The two plot an escape from their cell, and pull it off. Now, it's up to Kirby and new allies to rescue and stop this strange group. COPY ABILITIES Abilities work a bit differently. You can change into one at (almost) any time, but you must first unlock an ability by performing some task. (ie: eating 5 blade guards for sword) Abilities start at level 1, and gain a level after another task is complete. Leveling up enhances power and abilities. Here's an example of how it would work, I guess: Fire Level 1: Eat 5 Fire Monkeys Level 2: Defeat the boss, Blaze Chimp-Burning Power added Level 3: Rescue Fire Leo or whatever his name is-More stuff added Abilities can be used whenever, but perhaps there would be some sort of limiter that would only allow you to call on a power several times before it needs to be recharged through food or something. I have an idea, but I'm bad at explaining it right now. Maybe later. HELPERS Yeah. After rescuing residents of Dreamland, you'll get pals on your side that you can call on by "sacrificing" a power for a bit. While a helper is out, you cannot use their power, but you gain certain bonuses, in addition to their fighting help. For example, temporarily giving up the Hammer power can summon a freed Bonkers, who will increase the damage you deal while he's out. I guess there would be downsides too, for balance. Like, Wheelie would decrease your defensive power. DOUBLE ABILITY You can combine some abilities to create a new one. While you're using one, you cannot use the helpers of the components: so, for the Beam Sword ability, Sword Knight and Waddle Doo are off-limits, but you can go use Waddle Dee or something. Abilities can grant some bonuses, along with some drawbacks. For example, the Phoenix power will let you come back to life after losing your health, but greatly weaken speed or something. I'm not sure if any of these are good ideas, but if done well they could work, I guess. Maybe this demo will help: --- Kirby fights against a boss, Prisoner Dedede. Kirby uses the Sword Power! He can use it two more times now They fight, and Kirby is knocked out of the power! The power's star bounces around but disappears before Kirby can get it. Kirby summons the Sword Knight helper! He can use the sword power one more time. They fight, and the sword helper is defeated! Quickly, Kirby uses his power to wield the sword once more. He can still use it one more time, like before. He is knocked out of it again, yeah. Kirby combines the Sword and Beam powers! The sword ability has no uses left, while the beam has 2. Better make it count. With upgraded range, Kirby is able to defeat Prisoner Dedede. Oh, the Hammer Power is now level 2! Kirby can now use the hammer swing...thing. The one he does while moving. Go me.
