I saw it today and liked it better than any of the previous ones. I liked how they didn't kill off the villains (NEVER liked that in the previous ones) and kept it fairly open for a Scarcrow or Ra's al Ghul return in a future movie (Not buying Ra's dead). The joker thing was a mixed bag for me. It was halfway a great device to throw in there, but it also seemed like they were trying to club the audience over the head with it. Potential problems with any joker based sequel is that whoever they cast is going to be following in Jack's shadow AND they're going to have a few problems with brand confusion. Dorks like myself can tell that the Burton Batman is from a different source material than Batman begins but I doubt the average moron is going to make the distinction at first. Then again, that movie was released in like 1989... I'd rather them do someone like Clayface than the joker anyway. |
