The movie Cry_Wolf (opening this weekend) had an interesting premise (a slasher movie twist on the "Boy Who Cried Wolf" fable), but that's ruined by having the movie PG-13. According the production photos, they are getting away with the PG-13 rating by having all the kills off camera (i.e. You see the attacks -- and maybe some blood -- but you never see the victims getting stabbed and whatnot) Well, Yahoo's recommendation system said I probably wouldn't like the movie anyway, so I shouldn't really worry. Edit: To clarify, I believe that some PG-13 horror films work (The Ring, The Grudge, and The Sixth Sense comes to mind). However, the slasher sub-genre just doesn't work without the onscreen violence. [ September 15, 2005, 06:46 PM: Message edited by: Gimpy ] |
