Noteable extra rule, concerning a recent issue in this forum. [Hey guys. I'm sort of tired of having to say this. But you all seriously need to lighten up. I don't even see anything wrong with Glyph's original post in this topic, and yet you all STILL give him a hard time. Give the fighting a break. There's nothing wrong if Glyph gives a comic a bad review. You can't possibly expect him to give every comic here a good review. But in this case, all he does here is review the comic. Not once does he attack or insult the person who made the comic, which is the only reason why anyone should get upset over a review. So seriously, lighten up and give Gylph a break. You can't jump down his throat and start an arguement like this ever time he gives a bad review. Now, on the other hand, if Glyph continues to make any more reviews where he is overly negative to the point where he is insulting the comic maker, then that's the time when you need to get me so I can take action. And seriously, Glyph, you can be a lot cooler then this. Your whole "I want to be a bully just because it's funny" attitude doesn't go over well with me. I don't mind you reviewing comics, and I don't even mind if you give comics bad reviews. But please at least try to be constructive about it. The people here are posting their comics because they are making comics for fun. No one is making money off of these stupid things or anything. So lighten the heck up already. This whole "I'm going to bash every stupid comic to the ground" attitude from you just gets old fast. We're all trying to be civil here. If you don't want to be civil as well, then you're just going to force me to take action. In summary, my whole point - this is a Comic Forum. For people who enjoy making comics to simply post what they make so they can share it with other people. I think it is not unreasonable for everyone who posts their comic to expect two things: 1) By posting your comic, you are willing to accept the fact that anyone can give your comic any review they feel like, good or bad. You have to accept every review that people give your comic and you should not insult the reviewers. Basically, posting your comic in a public forum like this mean that other people will read and review your comic. There's nothing you can do about that. If you are not willing to accept the reviews that people give you, then don't post your comic here. 2) People expect, a kind, constructive atmosphere for their comics. When people post a comic here, they expect reviews to be helpful. People do not want to read overly negative, overly insulting or offensive reviews. It ruins the whole atmosphere of the forum and makes everyone angry. No one needs that here. So I don't want to see anyone here be a jerk or a bully. We want this to be a friendly place where people are comfortable with posting their comics without feeling threatened or treated poorly. Because with a medium a fun-loving as comics, there is no reason to get people upset. I expect that when someone makes their very first comic and posts it here, that they are not attacked mercylessly and their comic bashed to pieces. I believe we should all give first-time comic makers a little break. There is no reason to attack a new persons comic so much, when I think we can generally expect that most people's first comics suck. Just look at my Evil-Luigi crap. But they will never learn unless constructive criticism is given. And they will never learn if they feel so threatened and unwelcome that they leave. So my warning goes out to everyone. Follow these two rules. I think they're sensible and something we can all agree on.-jay] |
