Since you guys were having a pretty heated argument there, and I like arguing for no particular reason, I'll throw my own 2 cents in...
Every single song may be underrated, just as everysong has the ability to be overrated. People might be looking for a new sort of sound, and you might not like their new sound. So what? It's your taste, and you're the only person that controls it. The same can be said of everyone else. Your saying 'OMG that group is so GAY' is only going to make you look like an ass.. And, unless that is your goal, I suggest you lay off the patrons of different genres. A person could argue endlessly about their own opinion, but their argument can be based solely upon their own limitations. One notion that I can scoff at is how one person could write off the capabilities of an entire genre's lyricists. The same goes for the musicianship and skills of artists classified by genre... There are three factors in all music that come together to form a song: Change, Complication, and Presentation. No one cares about your awesome guitar solos if you can't work them into a usable song structure. Some people hate solos. Some people are in awe of them. Structure is how all of the factors of a song are brought together. Structure is where your taste matters, because you might not want one type of focus in your music.
