That's not entirely true from a historic point of view, actually. Think about it: first you had Greece and Rome, the age of philosophers, an organized government, the earliest forms of democracy (though, of course, democracy was only for the rich back then), the creation of aqueducts and many, many more inventions that have made life for us better. Then, after such a glorious, civilized age that made many advancements in the way of life, came the Dark Age. Think of it this way: first there's an age of enlightenment, then the dark age, then an age of enlightenment again, then another dark age, and so on.

So music is bound to pick up sooner or later. There's plenty of people in the world who think that modern, mainstream music sucks (just look at these very boards), so there has to be some ingenious musician out there who'll start the revolution sooner or later.

It was all going well until the Sex Pistols decided to come and screw it up. *sigh...*
