McCartney and Harrison have to be my favorite Beatles, then Lennon, and then McCartney.
Lennon made some truly awful stuff on his solo recordings, that much is true, but it's cause he screwed it up in the studio (Phil Spector to blame once again). Listen to stuff from the Lennon Anthology. The outtakes that are on that album are amazing. For example, the version of "I'm Losing You" on the Anthology is miles better than the official release.
