While I do agree with the sentiment behind many of those quotes, certainly there are better ways it could've been expressed. But these are high schoolers, and unfortunately that's just the way high schoolers are. They have strange ideas as to what they need to do and say in order to be accepted, and one of these is that a coarse and blunt comment is more impressive than a well-reasoned argument.
And keep in mind that tasteless comments come from BOTH sides of any issue. |
