Viktor Yanukovich on the other hand, is pro-Russian and supported by Russia and Vladimir Putin.
The eastern half of Ukraine is voting for Yanukovich, and the western half is voting for Yushenko. Yushenko is favored among world leaders because it would be a turn away from Ukraine's Soviet past, away from communism and towards capitalism. |
