Well...there are backgrounds, I'll say that much. What's with Tails' dialogue being broken up? If it's because the panels are too small, then maybe you should enlarge them a bit. And by a bit, I mean a lot. Seriously, this is one of the smallest comics in terms of size I've ever seen around here. Bigger panels allows you to develop plot more and enhance your graphics a little bit. It's sort of a spectacle; it's the amazing pyrotechnics to your Rammstein show.

As far as the plot goes...um...I don't really know how to say it without making a total ass of the both of us. I'm conflicted about the cliffhanger. On one hand, it keeps the reader coming back to see what will happen in the next comic. On the other hand, it doesn't really give a sense of finality in the comic.

The biggest problem I have is with the way the dialogue is set up altogether. You really don't need to have different colored speech bubbles. As long as you can attribute the text legibly to the respective character, there shouldn't really be a problem. Again, larger panels. And for the love of God, learn to align the lines properly. It almost feels like they're singing, raising and lowering words like that.

Needs work. Keep at it.
