Yes, people would've been satisfied, and similarly, people would be just as satisfied had motion pictures never been invented. That's what I'm getting at; without exposure to a concept, people can't have an opinion of the concept. None of this next-gen stuff is really necessary anyway (heck, outside of medicine, there really aren't many necessities left to discover or invent).
