Jacob pushed his way through the throng of people until he could get a good look at the pedestal. The King was standing upon it, trying to get the attention of the crowd. Jacob couldn't hear what he was saying, but much of the crowd could apparently. A great cheer erupted, and the King looked pleased. He continued to talk, and soon Jacob was able to make out a few words. "...adore the monument of our triumph over evil however long you wish!" The wagon rolled on toward the castle as the crowd began to disband. "Now," the King continued, with Jacob well in earshot. "I imagine that you all have a lot of work to get to in order to be ready for the grand festival tonight to celebrate the erection of the statue. It will be a night truly to remember." The King smiled warmly as he headed off toward the castle. Jacob had forgotten that the festival was tonight, and was overjoyed with the idea. Perhaps there will be fireworks he wondered. It will be grand, I imagine, although very crowded. I hope the market will not be full of morons, as usual... At least Princess Zelda will be there. . His thoughts lingered on her for some time. Her golden locks, her saphire eyes... Suddenly, it occured him. The entire royal family would be there, and the castle would be empty. Damn. The Prince will probably make me stay behind and guard the stables. Oh well, I probably wouldn't of had any fun here anyways... The rain had finally ceased, and Jacob decided to stop at the inn for a cup of tea. Opening the door, he was soon greeted by the innkeeper. "Howdy, Jacob," he said grinning. "Hello," Jacob said. "I imagine you're not here for a room... The common room is kinda empty right now, though. Not that you mind, I'm sure." Jacob nodded, and began walking toward the common room when the innkeeper stopped him. "And one more thing, Jacob." He lowered his voice. "There's a shady lookin' character hanging around here. Watch out for him, especially tonight at the festival. I think he's plannin' something..." "Oh.. uh, thank you... Say, do you remember the Hero...?" "Certainly I do. I must have been about your age. It was terrible, until he came and saved us. Link... yea, that was his name... The Hero of Time, they called him..." "Whatever happened to him?" "Nobody knows... After he saved us he just up and disappeared... He was a... uh...one of them... Kokiri... least, I think he was. Had a fairy and dressed like one... " "And no one knows where he is?" "Well...almost nobody..." Again, he lowered his voice. "They say that he and the princess, or rather the Queen now... You know." He winked. "But, it couldn't work out... he was a pauper and she was the princess..." Jacob pondered these words as he walked, quite downtrodden, into the common room to get a cup of tea.
