Never really got into Lionel Richie. I like his work with the Commodores, but other than a few songs ("Easy Like Sunday Morning" piano riff = classic) his solo stuff was too... how to describe it... he was trying too hard for mainstream acceptance, trying to get played on both black and white stations [see Racism of 80's Radio Broadcasting, page 30], trying to straddle the line. Don't get me wrong, I respect him, but he's just not really for me.

Now Marvin Gaye on the other hand... that's my dude for real right there.
