| Ah, don't know how to get rid of the white box yet. You know when you switch to the Select tool? See the two things below all the tools? Select the bottom one, and you have transparency. Set the second color in the palette to whatever the background color in the sprite sheet you're using is. (Generally white, and the second color is white by default). If it's not white, use the Pick Color (Below the eraser) and right-click the bg color in the sprite sheet.
