Honestly, that song is pretty original compared to a lot of the stuff thats out today. I've heard rehashed nursery rhymes in rock songs too, so I wouldnt knock the song just because of that. The song itself is annoying and shows no lyrical promise(Which in my opinion is the most important part of a hip hop track), however, it does have a nice flow, and the song is addicting.
The death of lyricism has been a painfully slow one. It's not just South's fault, as some of the best lyricists have come from the South and some of the worst lyricists have come from other regions (recent Cam'ron ).

I just think the song is unbelieveably annoying. Plus, I thought this whole "bling bling" think died off a years ago. It'll be a sad day when ignorant kids of the future look back on "Chain Hang Low" and "Bling Bling" as important pieces of hip hop history. It's bad enough that we give a pass to rappers who continue to rap about pimping, selling drugs, and the glorification of black-on-black violence without showing the consequences of these actions simply because they're able to put it a clever way. Believe my, I'm as guilty as anyone, as I own every Ghostface Killah and T.I. album.

Whatever happened to the Ice Cube's, Ice-T's, the KRS One's, the Public Enemy's, the Tribes known simply as "Quest?" I'll tell you what happened: much of the pro-black music doesn't appeal to most white people, who became the number one consumers of rap music, either because it scares them or they just can't relate to it.

People got too caught up in being gangsta during the 90's. Gangsta rap isn't even the same as it used to be. I guarantee, if Dr. Dre were recording The Chronic today, "The Day the N#!$!z Took Over" would not make the final cut of the album.

It's ironic that so many rappers talk about being like 2Pac, and how he's their favorite rapper, yet they have absolutely no clue what 2Pac stood for. It's like... have you even heard "Holla if you Hear Me?" Have you heard "Keep Ya Head Up?" "Me Against the World?" "Brenda's Got a Baby?" Have you even heard "Changes" for heaven's sake??? The same people who show respect to 2Pac will totally clown a rapper who tries to make a song like those!! Look at how much respect Little Brother gets from mainstream audiences... just sad, just sad.
