kr128: I hated Calculus. I hated it so much that I never bothered to take Calc II. I know that a dodecahedron is a polygon consisting of twelve regular pentagons attached to each other. Since you said "area," even though one would assume you meant "volume," I'll give you the equation for the area:

Where x = length of a side of one of the pentagons and y = radius from midpoint of a line to the center of the pentagon:

A = 12(1/2)(y*5x)

or to simplify it

A = 30xy
