| "Whoa." he thought. He had expected the fire attack, but the 'Spiral Blaze Beam' attack Inferno had just used was staggering. Instinctively, he dropped below the beam, since the heat would rise from the beam and possibly burn him if he rose above it. He felt that he was burned, damaged in some way, but it must have been a first-degree burn if it was a burn at all. He could still feel the intense, searing heat above him. For a moment he didn't move, and now noticing that the heat hadn't died, also noticed that the fires were still raging. He quickly got up, manipulated the wind, and with his katar made swift cutting motions above the fires, summoning a mild gale to extinguish them. For good measure, he blew some fire back Inferno's way. It was not so much an attack, just a statement: I can blow it back. He was sweating now. Partly from excitement and nervousness, but mostly from the heat, the horrible heat that was like a thousand days in a dry, hot desert. Floating in the air, he spoke, mocking Inferno more, "Fool. If one of us has underestimated the other, you have undrestimated me. Fire may be deadly, but fire is too unstable and uncontrollable. It can't sustain itself. It feeds on the air around it to breathe. Wind can end its existence effortlessly. When have you once seen fire triumph over air?" He hoped Inferno would be angered by this. With this, drifting slowly towards Inferno, he quickly, hastily readied himself for any fire attack he might be hit with by creating a difficult to notice (but powerful) stream of air flowing in front of him, travelling to the side to divert an attack that he would speed up when the time came. |
