| Various drug approaches may be used in Crohn's disease to both obtain and maintain remission. Aminosalicylate anti-inflammatory drugs commonly prescribed are mesalazine (mesalamine, 5-ASA) and the derivative sulfasalazine. The corticosteroids prednisone and budesonide are immunosuppressants, as well as azathioprine (Imuran), 6-mercaptopurine (6-MP), infliximab (Remicade®), methotrexate.
