No, they don't. Nobody's laughing when Purple Megaman Recolor/Author/Dave pops up to deliver your hackneyed punchlines, and surprise quickly turns to annoyance and finally hatred when a comic swipes characters from whatever series they can get their hands on.
The only good cameo sequences are the ones where you might not even notice them, and maybe ones like Brian's dog comic where they were just so wildly inappropriate it was funny. But you can only pull a cameo once and even then if nobody knows the character or if you didn't use the character right you lose. |
