IGN: Black Box in a Pine Box Steam can be jarring at first. It's basically a copy/protection format combined with a storefront. The one thing I do like is that if you enter your serials from older games in the series (HL1, both expansions, CS, mods, etc), it stores it in your account and allows you to just d/l the game files without needing the discs. Since I'm on my 3rd computer since Steam started, this has really come in handy since my discs are in some sort of box-layered hell after moving 3 or 4 times in the same time period. You're generally not going to get a cheaper deal on Steam (though sometimes they have preorder specials), but it's great if you don't have stores with good PC game stocks around you (all of mine are hit/miss, Best Buy and Circuit City randomly stock it and the local EB/Gamestops stopped really carrying PC games outside of MMORPGs, the Sims and Blizzard box sets).
