First thing, they took way too long to make this. Something this quality should have been around 3 months tops. Second, I suspect part of the problem is that their game maker sucks. I recommended a thing called The Games Factory, from which I alone probably could create a better game than that. But the main thing is simple. You've got mis-matched sounds, the use of some which violate copyright law. As a result, there is a chance SMBHQ could be sued for merely hosting it. The use of the Paper Mario II's music straight from the game, of course. The other midis are... well, one or two, and generally suck. The levels consist of mindless games with two variations: Avoid certain objects, grab certain objects. Occasionally both. Mario gets strangely hung up at times when I'm trying to make him stop going up and turn left. He should be able to go diagonally. The game also had a weird mismatch of hand-drawn and game sprites. It's all or nothing, not 50%! The stamp thing, in the demo, was way too hard. There was no explanation of how it worked there. Now it has become easy, save for the fact the stamps are so small it strains my eyes to pick them out. Overall, I give this a D. |
