Just got back from a show at The Pageant...

...which is a club in St. Louis. It's nice & all, but the guy sitting in front of me was able to produce more smoke with one cigarette than most chain smokers I know can spit out from a whole pack. It's not just that the guy was smoking, it's how he was smoking.
Also, the sound system there is slightly lacking for the needs of a 20+ piece band.

Yup, I saw the Polyphonic Spree. My ears are ringing, but the concert was incredible. Noticibly absent was lead female singer Jennifer Jobe-Penn. Noticibly present was lead singer Tim DeLaughter's son Oscar, banging on an unmic'd drum for the loud songs (good thing, too; the kid has no rhythm).

For any who care, a set list (in as close to proper order as I can remember):
"Running Away"
"Hanging Around the Day"
"Get Up and Go"
"The Fragile Army"
"It's the Sun"
"Light to Follow"
"La La"
"Middle of the Day"
"Mental Cabaret"
"We Crawl"
"Watch Us Explode"
"The Championship"

Encore: (they put the old robes back on for this bunch )
"Together We're Heavy"
"Lithium"
"Soldier Girl"
"Hold Me Now"
"Sonic Bloom"
"Everything Starts at the Seam/When the Fool Becomes a King" (this song is over 11 minutes on the album & longer live; there's no way YouTube could have a proper cut of the whole thing)
"Light & Day/Ride Captain Ride"

It's late & I'm tired. More comments tomorrow.
For the record, the section numbers for those songs run as follows:
Main set - 22, 6/7, 23, 24, 2, 29, 4, 5, 27, 26, 30, 32.
Encore - 20/21, NA, 8, 12, NA, 18/19, 9/NA.

And remember, "I'm-a Luigi, number one!"
