It helps having at least some background playing a real instrument, reading real music and playing to a tempo. If at all possible, go back in time and convince yourself that those piano lessons weren't completely useless for your gaming career.
My big tip is to rest your hand on the red-yellow-blue-orange keys; your index finger is more adept at reaching two notes than your pinky is. Play over songs and really try to hit the hammer-ons and pull-offs instead of strumming them like a lame person would. You're not lame, right? |
