Actually, look, I'm going to level with you.
If you don't think Half-Life is one of the best shooters ever made, you're
wrong. That is not a matter of opinion: if you dislike Half-Life it says more about you as a gamer than it does Valve as a developer or Half-Life as a game.
You can make lots of arguments, but any Halo's single-player campaign doesn't touch that of either Half-Life. There is no criteria on which it can be based where it would.
