Absolutely loved it. It's a game that you have to view as a work of art rather than a commodity, and on that basis everything about it works. As with any good work of art, there are several ways to perceive this game, and Suda 51 was very careful to allow for this. There are no concrete answers, and that is bound to upset some people; however, when you keep an open mind, you'll find it's much better that way. It's difficult to describe what I mean without using specific examples, but I wouldn't dare discuss any plot points or thematic elements when I'm trying to convince people who haven't played the game to play it. To all of you, I can only offer this: keep an open mind, leave no stone unturned (even the unorthodox style of gameplay strengthens some of the game's themes!), and don't play this game if you want a commodity for entertainment (those who do will be sorely disappointed). |
