| DK64 was okay, but certainly not the best in the series. The characters were dull and unmemorable, the levels (as Dragoon so put it) involved too much running around collecting things, and the story was bland. If the game were a cereal, it would be oatmeal: wholesome, but boring. On the pro side, some of the boss fights were memorable (Mad Jack was fun; Kardboard Kut-Out was interesting), and the implementation of instruments, weapons and special moves was nice. I also enjoyed seeing the animal pals (Rambi, Enguarde, Squaks) in 3D minigames. |
