The Poinsettia, Las Vegas, Hawaii, Motor City, Armed Forces, Music City, Peach, Outback, Gator and Capital One Bowls were all epix. And that's not even counting all the other games decided by a touchdown or less that I didn't get a chance to watch. You could make good arguments for or against any of the top 5 or 6 in the BCS standings- there's no happy ending solution to be found this year. Your fellow cajuns been pouring that purple and gold kool-aid down your throat? Pulling an Ohio State would be scheduling home and aways with traditional power schools like Texas, USC, Miami (FL), Cal and Virginia Tech-which Ohio State has done- this year is the exception, not the rule. Oh, the naiveness of outsiders. Fix'd. |
I can't stand UGA or their classless fans, hence me pulling for Hawaii. Seriously though, looking at the idiotic system in place, the game that should have happened was USC/UGA and letting Hawaii and Illinois or some other at-large fight it out.
WV-OU looked good until the second quarter, when WV's O showed up and OU never did. 48-28 blowout ftl.
Minor bowls are like saying preseason baseball is compelling and interesting. It is to a point, but nobody cares. I mean, if I were a fan of a one game over .500, I'd be stoked my team was playing in some irrelevant bowl game in the middle of nowhere sponsored by some company's dot-com address that I've never heard of. But really, it's ultimately an exhibition game meaning nothing. If I wouldn't have cared about the matchup in October, I probably won't care now.
Reasoning on blowout: OSU hasn't been tested. OSU lost to Illinois, who isn't as fast. LSU's D is healthy and rested. LSU has a homefield advantage. LSU was tested out of conference and blew out Va Tech and only lost in 3OT in their losses. I just don't see OSU getting through LSU's defense to keep it close.
You think anyone is going to schedule home/aways with power opponents if you guys win this year? I know if I were an AD I wouldn't. The polls are easily manipulated as it stands. Expect to see more schedules filled with directional-podunk-U.
Please. We both know Carr's legacy is LLLLLLLyod Carr, not to mention that whole Appy State incident.

Michigan's 25 on US New and World's rankings. Only quasi-football/all-sports schools above them are Cal (21), UCLA (tied at 25), Virginia (if they really count: 23) and ND (19). If you go into the top 50 and pull out the consistant powerhouses, its Michigan, Texas, and USC, with Michigan being highest. Schools with passable football programs in the top fifty are less than 10 total.
