While Illinois may not have the same overall team speed as LSU, I don't think Perriloux or Flynn are as fast as Juice. LSU doesn't have the legs at QB to run a lot of read-option plays, which is what killed us against Illinois more than anything.

LSU has a homefield advantage
I think this might be the most overrated factor for this game- Ohio State played and thrived in two (well, three I guess if you count the Big House) of the loudest stadiums in college football, Husky Stadium and Beaver Stadium (at night to boot). Look at the Rose Bowl- even with the close proximity to USC, it was still probably only 60-40 in favor of Trojan fans. Big Ten fans travel as well as anyone in the country, and even if the Bucknuts are outnumbered it won't be my much and won't be that big a deal.

You think anyone is going to schedule home/aways with power opponents if you guys win this year? I know if I were an AD I wouldn't. The polls are easily manipulated as it stands. Expect to see more schedules filled with directional-podunk-U.
Other than Virginia Tech, LSU's OOC was pathetic. I think most ADs recognize that this is the most ****ed up season in college football history and that something like this more than likely won't happen again in our lifetime.
Or LSU will win and ADs will see they can have a heavy ass schedule, lose a game or two and still make it to the big game.

Michigan's 25 on US New and World's rankings. Only quasi-football/all-sports schools above them are Cal (21), UCLA (tied at 25), Virginia (if they really count: 23) and ND (19). If you go into the top 50 and pull out the consistant powerhouses, its Michigan, Texas, and USC, with Michigan being highest. Schools with passable football programs in the top fifty are less than 10 total.
Less than 10? I'm not sure what you qualify as passable or what list you're looking at, but surely there's 10 out of these: Notre Dame, Cal, UVA, Michigan, USC, Wake, Georgia Tech, Boston College, Wisconsin, Washington, Texas, Penn State, Florida.
