There are some people who hacked their own music and note patterns into the game. I don't know the details, so you'll have to Google for how to do that.
As an aside, there is an open source alternative on PC called
Frets On Fire. If you have a PC guitar (or PS2 controller -> USB adaptor), you can find some songs people wrote tablature for and play it there.
