Well, I've heard great things about Phantasia, too.... just haven't played it meself.
But seriously, don't play Legendia. It's tedious, obnoxious as hell, and just GAAH.
So, since you don't want to play ToS, I suggest Abyss, and I'm sure others will give you their own opinions.
