Okay. Here's the short history listory:
UR MR GAY This is a message hidden within the boxart for Super Mario Galaxy. By picking out the letters that have sparkles on them, you can find the hidden message "URMRGAY", or "You're Mr. Gay". Whether this is entirely accidental or someone's little prank is uncertain. Apparently, Nintendo hasn't made any changes with the game's boxart in light of the hidden message.
L is real 2041 This is the supposed message that appears on the statue in the backyard in Super Mario 64. However, the texture is very blurry and this could just be a coincidence. Hardcore Luigi-is-in-Mario-64-ers use this as evidence that the developers must have hidden Luigi somewhere in the game. Oddly enough, the same tile appears in The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time.
I have granted kids to Hell Ashley's song from WarioWare: Touched!, when played backwards at a certain speed, will have Ashley appear to say "I have granted kids to Hell". Seeing as Ashley is a witch, this has been hailed as a possible Satanist message. It has all the ingredients: a witch's song, played backwards at a certain speed reveals an unholy message...
The cereal advertisement in SMB3 Why do kids love to play Super Mario Bros. 3? Because there's cinnamon swirls in every level! An old urban legend goes that Nintendo, in alliance with certain cereal companies, hid cereal into every level as ordinary tiles. These were displayed as regular (yet odd-looking) tiles, including bricks, coral, and the ever-popular Donut Blocks. Sounds like a load of cack to me, but I still get a craving for Froot Loops when I go to the underwater levels.
Japanese islands in SMB3 A strange secret in SMB3: In world 3 (The Sea), the easternmost island, which holds the world castle, has an uncanny resemblence to the country of Japan. The castle is even located where Kyoto (Nintendo's HQ) would be, and the king looks like Mario (Nintendo's mascot). A secret many overlook. More
here. The implied penis-enlargement in Ashley's song from WarioWare: Touched! Again with Ashley's song. At a certain point, a group of lyrics in the English translation seem to imply something more than just innocent witchcraft. Ashley begins listing ingredients and describing their effects...
"Eye of newt, I cast a hex on you!
Grandma's wig, this will make you big!
Kitten spit, soon your pants won't fit!"
After hearing it a few times it starts to dawn on you that the words just sound... double-entendre'd. This joke has circulated around the internet a bit.
The alleged Communist propaganda hidden in the games Reportedly, more than just Mario's cap is Red. People claim to have noticed Communist propaganda hidden within the games. Want to see some more?
Here's a neat cartoon. There.
