I'm definitely going with the Scrubs episodes Loot mentioned, and the "Jurassic Bark" episode of Futurama.

The only book that really made me kind of misty was Where the Red Fern Grows.

And as long as we're throwing songs in, I've gotta go with "Hold Me Down" and "Last Night" by Motion City Soundtrack.
