About this comment, because it's been bugging the heck out of me.
Prime was, especially at the time, pretty much the only important FPS on the market that didn't use a "level" system, or linear plotline. The entire game is a "go wherever the hell you feel like" sandbox situation.
Basically the only FPS game where your most important weapons are unlimited/charge based.
The only FPS game that has really put a lot of emphasis on exploring every nook and cranny since the Doom series.
The only FPS game that has successfully put extra emphasis on platforming.
Completely different targeting system from every other FPS.
Unique metroid style hazard-enemies, where the danger is getting too close to wild animals, and the enemies have specific weak points.
 Scan data. On everything.
Weapon combinations. I don't recall any other major FPS games featuring them.
 No stupid level loading times.
Its success was entirely based on its incredible single-player mode. Not something you could say for Halo, Unreal Tournament, or Quake 3 Arena.
 Morphball, dude.
I've got a dinner to eat, so I won't go on, but I hope you get the point.
