How would you know if they ruined it, l007? You haven't seen the original. They didn't use the english "We Are!" for the opening, they used a hilariously ****ty hip-hop song. The funniest lines were like "ZOLO'S ALL LIKE A SAMURAI" and "YO-HO-HO HE TOOK A BITE OF GUM GUM." Hahaha. I laughed my ass off. Overall, it was a lot better than I expected, but this is definitely the most tame episode of One Piece. The voices were pretty good, and there were some retarded edits, but overall, it was decent. The original is still 100x better anyway. Oh yeah, and they changed Zoro's name to "Zolo," probably to avoid legal trouble with whoever made Zorro. |

"The Curse of Capistrano," Johnston McCulley, has been dead for more than fifty years if I remember correctly. Universal now owns the Zorro trademark, but no, they didn't create Zorro. The opening was terrible. The show in itself seems alright, though I must admit I didn't want Nami to get stuck with an overly cute sounding voice actor. I'll just have to wait and see what happens during the fight with the Black Cats before I can say whether it is any good or not. Besides, 4Kids is releasing uncut and unedited episodes of Shaman King and Yu-Gi-Oh on DVD. I'm sure OnePiece will follow suit. |

For example, Dr. Light was called Dr. Right on the original "Captain N: The Game Master". I thought the theme song was quite original, but Luffy's voice was just...BAD. Sorry, that voice don't cut it for such a cool character. I liked the previews and all, though. I can't remember his name, but he did a ground whirlwind kick using a stretching ability much like Luffy. I wonder if that guy is good in the show?? |

And no, his name was not changed because of the translations. Luffy's name was "LUFFY" in the original (yes, with an L sound), and Arlong was "ARLONG" (with an L as well), etc. But I doubt they'll get to Arlong without cutting half of the arc he's in, it's definitely the most bloody and violent at the first part of the series. He doesn't stretch. His name is Sanji, and he's the ship's cook, who uses a style of fighting using only his legs. He's pretty cool, but I bet he'll get butchered in the dub as well(he already has; the cigarette he always has in his mouth has been replaced by a candy cane. I doubt this series will be able to go very far under 4Kids' wings. I very much doubt they'll get to Loguetown, which would eliminate their worries about editting Smoker, who has 2 cigars in his mouth at all times, an ammo belt filled with cigars around his chest, and the power to turn into smoke. Like I said, the episode they showed now is the most tame, and they didn't even show punches and stuff actually connecting. It seems PG-rated now, but the original did too, until Buggy started blowing up whole towns and stabbing people. Helmeppo (Morgan's son) had an annoying voice, but it's suited to his personality. They changed the little girl's riceballs into cookies. At least in Pokemon they kept the japanese food.. And did they change the Marines' rifles into super soakers?! Not even gonna talk about that. They're constantly putting in cliche sailor talk, and it's starting to annoy me. Zoro said "bilge rat" at least 5 times, and also dumb crap like "YOU LITTLE MINNOWS BETTER GET OUT BEFORE YOU GET EATEN BY SHARKS" or "LOOK WHAT THE TIDE WASHED IN." He told Morgan to "cut off the head-shaped barnacle on the top of his neck" and Morgan says that he'll "fill him with holes like a fishing net." It's beginning to piss me off, but meh. |

Anyway, I made the ep sound a lot worse than it was. I thought this ep was handled much better than last week's. They just need to tone down the "sailor talk" bull****. But I am worried about how they'll handle Captain Buggy... |

He's both hilarious and serious at the same time, being a Clown Pirate, after all. I liked the episode, thought it was pretty good. Zolo's pretty funny too. I can't wait for the next part... |

The part with Arlong ripping off his bandage, showing Zoro's wound will definitely be cut out. Which is a shame, because i always thought it was kind of cool how completely freaked out Arlong gets by Zoro's wound. Yeah, I doubt that the Arlong arc will get shown completely. There's gallons and gallons and gallons of blood. |

Three things stood out: 1) They left in the phrase "Santoryu"(Zoro's fighting technique; three sword style). I'm pretty surprised. 2) They cut out Morgan ordering his men to shoot themselves. This was expected, though. 3) This was probably the most hilarious edit so far. The scene where Helmeppo puts a gun to Koby's head... lmao. They changed Helmeppo's gun so some kind of... hammer on the end of a coil with a trigger. I can't describe it, it was hilariously reatarded . |
