Just list a few characters and name the VA or a character from another anime we can match the voice to. Naruto - Mona Marshall The voice I think is close to what Naruto sounds like and I think the VA cvan pull off the #1 loudest ninja. Orochimaru - Steven Jay Blum Though he's used alot I think he'd make a great Orochimaru. Though if I could hear someone pull off a much lighter voice i'd go for that, |

Richard Epcar might make a good Jiraiya. Or Shikamaru's dad. Not sure. Richard Epcar should be in it anyway.

He did the voices for a good number of DBZ characters (Vegeta, Yamcha, Piccolo, Mr. Popo). He just can't do Kuwabara worth crap. If Cartoon Network and other stations that play anime just showed Anime subbed the world would be a better place. Oh, and I've seen plenty of shows dubbed so my experience is actually pretty good. I've seen the following things dubbed: Yu-yu-Hakusho Dragonball Dragonball Z Rurouni Kenshin Ghost in The Shell Akira Yu-Gi-Oh! Rurouni Kenshin Blue Gender (though dubbed or subbed it sucks) Samurai Deeper Kyo Digimon Pokemon Monster Rancher Hellsing New Fist of the North Star FLCL Cowboy Bebop Berserk Shaman King One Piece Gundam Wing Gundam Seed G-Gundam Sonic X Kirby Right Back at Ya Inuyasha Devil Man And yes all the dubbed voice actors in these shows sucked and can't hold a candle to their oringinal VA's. |

Cowboy Bebop is hailed as the best job ever done on an English dub. Even the show's creator said the show came out better in English. Note: "Dubbed" is a bit of a misnomer. All anime is technically dubbed, it's a simple matter of the language, now isn't it? Also, when it comes to actual voice-acting (leave out the censorship), I've heard that the American DBZ is better than the Japanese. I own all of Rurouni Kenshin, and, I must say, it has an excellent dub. Get off your elitist Japanese high-horse. "Oh, Kenshin is actually voiced by a man! That sucks!" |

In Japan there are schools for voice acting in America there are not. (That's voice acting not acting.) Not, to mention most VA's here treat Anime as, what they mistakingly percieve it as, a kid's show so there is some obvious over acting and horrendous throwing of the voice. And dubbing is just a way to shorten having to say English VA's most people will know what you're talking about if you Dubbed or Subbed. |

Most of the voice actors that treat anime as kiddy stuff do voices for 4Kids... and since 4Kids only has about seven different people doing voices... that's not many. Yes, most American VAs treat anime like kids' shows. That's why a lot of it has FREAKIN' EXPLETIVES IN IT. Seriously, there is no way that you can treat a lot of anime as kiddy. Look at Trigun, Rurouni Kenshin, Cowboy Bebop... the list goes on and on. I think the real reason that you don't like english voice acting is that you can understand the words that are coming out of their mouths.

Oh yeah I've seen Trigun dubbed too. Did I say that in my previous post? Vash sounds like a Power Ranger (Wait his voice actor is a power ranger) And Legato's voice is out of character he talks like he's above everyone else even though that's obviously not what he thinks. (Dubbs actually add in some explitives you do know that right to make it seem more adult. But, the way they throw their voices makes it sound like a kids show.) And Bebop is OK for a dub. I only have complaints about Faye and Jet since they sound nothing like their orignal VA's. Kenshin's original VA is awesome one of the best VA's ever his dubbed one is mediocre at best. Yu-Yu-Hakusho dub turned Hiei into a Vegeta clone and gave him a horrible voice. Oh wait I've also seen Big O dubbed... Rogers voice was good... (I kinda like his dubbed VA even though he doesn't fit the role of Shishio from RK) But, most of he others suck. People are always trying to bust my chops little do they know my chops are unbustabble. Err... I have amessage here... Notice how everyone at VGF responds to insults to their precious dubs so defensively, simply trying to discredit you, rather than arguing with any of your points?-Sawquid or former VGF member ANDROSS FYI: This does not reflect my own opinion just relaying a message...Though it is kinda true... And yes, I've heard him in the sub. He sounds exactly like he's high and mighty in that, too. Faye's voice in the sub was annoying as hell. URGH. I just liked the way she sounded in the dub better. But other than that, both the subbed and dubbed Cowboy Bebop are cool. But...you know, sometimes, I just don't want to have to read words at the bottom of a screen just to understand what the **** the characters in a movie are saying. I can tolerate it sometimes, but if I have an anime dubbed by a good dubbing company, I'd rather watch the dubbed version, thanks.

Honestly, I don't care if anime is subbed or dubbed. I will watch it if it's good. And DBZ sucked to begin with, so I have no idea why you would think it would be much better subbed. :/ (and, err, what was that about those cheap shots again, person who just did it to me?) ![]() [ October 14, 2004, 08:02 PM: Message edited by: Bad Andi ] |
