Kimba the White Lion and The Lion King. - VGF

This is very surprising! Kimba the white lion, a popular old anime show seems very similar to me like the Lion King. Could the lion king be based off of this show? Both have the wise baboons with even the same faces. Kimba and Simba seem to be spelled the same. And Kimba also seems to be playful like simba, and as such they both have been the causes as to why their fathers died. Grownup Kimba really looks a lot like Mufasa as well.

Yes, the Lion King is in fact inspired (ie ripped off of) by KtWL.

I was just looking over the website of Kimba, and I have one thing to say.

IT'S SO CUTE!

Now I want to watch the entire series. Even the New Adventures.

the lion king wasn't ripped off of kimba per say....kimba had humans! Lion king did not. Kimba was a series, lion king was not. Kimba dealt with issues such as poaching, lion king dealt with lion order. You could say that the lion pride ideas have inspired the lion king, but definitely not ripped off of! And on a little off topic convo, i just rented the lion king special edition and found a new song not normally in there! The Morning Report!
