downfall of 4kids: phoenix wright style

cosplay skit from ikkicon featuring phoenix, edgeworth, Aeris, ash, and a state alchemist against 4kids. I don't know if you guys have seen this but I thought I'd add this here as a sort of pwnage towards 4kids and what they've done to anime.

Phoenix and edgeworth defeat 4kids

if only this were true.

I saw this the other day. Considering my mad hatred for 4Kids and my love for the PW games, this was the perfect video to make my day.

... I don't see much that is actually good. Whoever played Aeris... Well, first, Aeris in this is idiotic. I've said it before, the only three characters from Final Fantasy VII that are any good are Cait Sith, Vincent, and Red XIII. Now, the person who played Aeris was horrid. Second, this case is nothing like a Phoenix Wright case - This "trial" makes Phoenix look like a prosecutor.

Spoiler Below
Up until the end of case four of Justice for All, Phoenix seemed to have a hatred towards about all prosecutors, saying they are all the same. Since the music used in this is from the first game, this makes no sense to have Phoenix teaming up with Edgeworth. Perhaps from Gyakuten Saiban 3 we'll see Phoenix change greatly since the end of case four of 2, but for now, no.

**Bows** Thus, I pass judgment. This film is piss poor.

^ Not so fast, Frankeska(sp?) Von Karma. Don't hit your whip yet.

Spoiler Below
He didn't hate Winston Payne. WHO WOULD HATE THE MOST BEST PROSECUTOR IN THE WHOLE GAME?

If you ask me, I like him because he once used the term "sugar daddy".

^ ... (snaps fingers) Everybody obey me because I am frightening and have a deep voice.

It is my opinion that Mr. Edgeworth cannot produce any legitimate fact aside from his own opinion, which is completely irrelevant in this court.(moves finger from side to side and smiles sinister-like) You can ask my daughter and her whip... Or maybe have a nice visit with my stun-gun.

As such, the prosecution cannot stand by and watch the other prosecution spew propaganda against the poor, unsuspecting, incompetant actor who played Aerith.

I move to declare Mr. Edgewor... I mean Luigi007 in contempt of Anime Forum Topic (court).

Right, Masa (judge)? (glares)

**Shakes finger** Come on, von Karma, you should know better. If you've seen even one high school play, you can tell that most of them have better acting skills. This Aeris/Aerith actor has horrid. She sounded like she just learned her lines, the way she was saying "Where is the prosecution?".

Second, they needed to use more anime as evidence if they wanted to actually put on a Phoenix Wright case. Come on... Yu-Gi-Oh. At least shell out Shamen King, One Piece, TMNT, Winx Club, Sonic X, and Kirby: Right Back at Ya. That would prove to be an exciting case, wouldn't it?

Third, who is Phoenix defending?

Case in point. **Bows** Your move, von Karma.

Hmph. You've a point, Edgeworth. She did seem to choppily speak her lines... but who's to say she wasn't a last minute replacement? think, young fool, perhaps she was simply trying to mimic the awfully-voiced Aerith from the Kingdom Hearts and Advent Children roles? And either way, you do realize that Aerith is completely irrelevant considering she had few lines altogether. Pity, because had she spoken more than she did it is possible that you could have more evidence to support the case. Remember that evidence MUST be relevant to a case. Aerith's performance, although deductive to quality, did not overall ruin the skit.

Granted, they used few pieces of evidence, but they had a remarkable point about Yu-Gi-Oh being unmistakably altered with no reason. There was nothing left intact, and even Shaman King managed to keep a lot of its original source matrial, hell even ONE PIECE did compared to the butchered Yu-Gi-Oh. You must also remember that the other Anime you presented are less popular than Yu-Gi-Oh was in its short prime.

Lastly, Phoenix was defending, and you should have noticed this... (Grins menacingly whilst shaking finger) The dubbed anime itself! Think, while you were butchering Aerith for her shameful acting skills, you missed one of her lines: "I find the defendant, the dubbed anime, NOT GUILTY!" And she also mentioned it at the beginning of the skit. The defendant in your last, hasty question was the dubbed anime itself.

Also, you misspelled Shaman, and I point that out because I am a hardass.

So, Edgeworth... have you anything left to prove? Have you anything left that can dissolve the fact that this video does not suck and you are guilty of making a foolish statement?

You can most certainly do better yourself, my young friend... You've one chance left to attack before I strike the final nail in your coffin.

(folds arms) Well?

**Chuckles** Well, well, von Karma. You seem to forget one thing, though.

**Slams hand on desk** Shaman King and One Piece were also dubbed by 4Kids! You are saying that 4Kids dubs some anime better than others! And might I add that many people regard Shaman King as one of the best dubs by 4Kids, essentially topping some OTHER anime out there, such as The NEW Adventures of Kimba the White Lion, early Dragon Ball Z, and even a number of the Gundam series!

Phoenix defending dubbed anime? These kids look like they'd rather watch subbed anime. Whatever, I tend to confuse these cosplayers. Besides, why would Phoenix defend an anime...

**Close up** That has a spin-off has horrid as Yu-Gi-Oh GX?

**Folds arms** I only brought up Aeris/Aerith because Final Fantasy 7 fans are rather annoying.

Lastly, I may add that it takes only one thing to ruin a series. In Captain N, it was Game Boy. In Pokémon, it was Pikachu. In Sonic the Hedgehog: The Original Series, it was Antoine (Really, he's annoying). In Power Rangers, it was milking the series to even today. Really, must I continue to provide examples in order to show that the actor of Aerith was that bad?

**Bows**

EDIT: **Points at Godot** You're not even localized yet! Stop yer yapping! Who knows if Godot will even be your name?

^^^Hmm hmmm hmmm... Heh heh heh he he! You think I forgot who dubbed the anime in question?! Ha! You mock me! And to think I once considered you an underling.

*snaps fingers* You missed a bit of my point in this objection of yours: 4-Kids did such a horrid job on Yu-Gi-Oh, which was originally a mature and slightly grotesque anime, and also upon Pokemon, that in actuality, using Yu-Gi-Oh as a momentary example was a given. The unfortunate torture the fans must have gone through is simply stunning; many people were disappointed, and I'm certain nobody really cared about Shaman King.

Honestly, if they had used One Piece as an example, the case could have gone on for hours.

*evil grin* And what exactly makes you think that Phoenix was specifically defending the Yu-Gi-Oh franchise? As stated earlier, this was merely an example. And, I also believe that despite the contradictions in their own skit (Such as the fact that they are defending dubbed anime and prosecuting 4Kids, which is an oxymoron in itself), these kids were merely proving a point: If not for 4kids, Anime would have made a better name for itself here in the States, or any other country outside of Japan! 4kids is to blame, and there was merely a small chip they had to break to get under the skin of the grossly out of proportion 'representative'.

In conclusion to my point, I would like you to notice: despite Aerith misleading you, she had few lines. Unlike in the shows you mentioned so half-heartedly, in which the characters in question spoke loudly and often, Aerith was a mere side-character who I found unnecessary to pay any attention to. Therefore, I dislike you immense desire to judge these people based on a horrible version of Aerith.

To finalize the futility of your case, there is a final, sweltering point that will finish you: These are amateurs who had the gumption to use an under-loved franchise to prosecute a much hated 'criminal'! In my opinion, even the idea, while not played to its fullest extent, was quite good in itself. Judging them based on their fan act simply because a few actors sucked and they slipped up to a trifle of a degree does not mean they didn;t have a good point. Thus, the video did not suck and was not a total loss.

*folds arms* Thus, you lose, Mr. Edgeworth.

**Shakes finger** Uh uh, von Karma. You have forgotten one important fact. The fact that Yu-Gi-Oh was eventually milked into a franchise in order to make a huge profit both in Japan AND here! It didn't matter how badly it was dubbed. The fact is, many people bought into it and bought the card game. The series was probably just to motivate people by having these giant freaky looking monsters duke it out in order to show who was better at card games. And you know what?

**Close up** IT WORKED!

Your argument about Yu-Gi-Oh being slaughtered does not hold water if it still became very popular.

Amateurs, eh? You would think that they would know how to be in character and know how to act since this is an anime con. They are, after all, obsessed with a character if they go to the point of dressing like them down to the buckles on the shoes.

Plus, if you're saying Aerith had too small of a part, wouldn't it have made sense if somebody just cosplayed the judge? After all, you admit yourself she was bad.

^Tsk tsk tsk.... I planned on making the point that somebody could have cosplayed as old Judge, but I believed that either way you would have objected. Well, yes, it seems I was right, because you made a worthless little objection in any case.

Hmph, well, I cannot argue on Yu-Gi-Oh's results...

*snaps fingers* But the bottom line is, it was murdered here even moreso that it was milked in Japan. Even is your argument has an edge, it still needs a bit of sharpening, my friend.

Amateurs, yes. Again, pay attention to the beginning of the video: these hooligans traveled miles to meet each other, specifically for this skit. If they had just met, their rehersal time would have been meager. No matter how you slice it, they were amateurs pulling a last-minute, insufficiently planned hoo-ha with bad actors but a dazzling concept.

And, before you say "Well, if they had travled all that way just to do that skit, why hadn't they rehearsed or planned better", allow me to again point your attention to my last point: they had very little time to rehearse, and probably had to cut the skit short for time purposes. Besides, it would have been easy for them to get nervous, living up to the standards of the spectacular Phoenix Wright series.

I state it again: The video, though not milked to its fullest, was not horrible and was not a total loss.

Still, knowing you, your argument isn't finished.

So, here's hoping you give me more pitiful excuses to further draw this out.
