Yes, I know this isn't the manga board, and generally should be about Anime, but I don't know where else to put it. Reading? Regardless, does anyone recommend any? I'm intimidated by the huge shelf in Barnes & Nobles, and I like to remain open to suggestions. Sometimes I'll pick up a random manga and read it, see if its any good, and decide if I want to continue. These are the ones I've tried thus far.
There's one I know people will suggest, but I don't know how to spell it >_>, so I can't say I've tried it. Mainly I'm looking for a comedy/action/drama, or anything like that. There's so many, I wouldn't even know where to begin looking. The reason this list may look short is I hadn't gotten into Manga until about six months ago, and I don't go to Barnes & Noble that often. Just please, don't recommend Fruits Basket. I hate Fruits Basket so much. |

I'd heard my friend mention Deathnote, and say it was good, but I never actually read it. I bought volume one, and I'm efficiently hooked. I only read the first two chapters, but it's already ingenious. The whole plan that L had, it was absolute genious. And I'm sure it will not let up on cleverness as I go along. Thanks guys, you helped me find an amazing manga. |

The first two are not for the feint of heart or Christian (trust me), but all three are very good. Some others I suggest are battle Angel Alita and Hellsing (Do NOT watch the anime for either), Naruto is pretty well drawn and the art gets better with every volume, but don't even think of starting to buy, the end is nowhere in sight. I started on Zombie Powder a while back, its a Shonen Jump book so its three dollars cheaper per volume and it has a complete story (although rather campy), and its not one of those sprawling hundred issue mangas. |

The Anime of this was the only thing that EVER made me cry, and I even begin to feel sad while reading the Manga. -xxxHolic It seems kind of Twilight Zone-esque. -Warcraft: Sunwell Trilogy For Warcraft fans. Done by the artist of "King of Hell". -Magical Shopping Arcade Abenobashi Perverse, but funny. -.hack//LEGEND OF THE TWILIGHT How Legend of the Twilight Bracelet SHOULD have turned out. -Akira You'd be surprised how similar the manga is to the anime, yet at the same time so different. More time for character development, although no 1980's "KA-NAY-DAAAAAH!". |

But I don't think that people like to read the random stuff that I do... Chobits is good too... That is all that I will recommend... |

Ten dollars per three or four hundred pages of pure, unadulterated awesome? Yeah. Throw thirty dollars at the first three volumes and see if you don't become a collector. It's the best stuff out there, period. |

(In the store, I had to see when the 12th would be out, so I checked the back and the description of volume 11, and it said, "The End Is Nigh.") I love Death Note. I've already read one to five. ;_; Barnes & Noble doesn't have six in, so I have to wait at least a week for my order to arrive. Lone Wolf and Cub, I think I looked for it/those (I can't tell if that's one manga's title, or two.) but I didn't find it/either. I'll check again. Thanks for all the suggestions. |

If fantasy/ comedy is what you look for, try Monster Collection. It is light hearted at moments and incredibly brutal at others, but overall a good read with excellent art and interesting characters. |
