But there's no fighting action, no angst, no romance, just comedy. Lots of it. Take, for instance, Chiyo. She should be in elementary school, but she's too smart for it. Also, there's Takino, so quick and eccentric, she even administers her own punishment when she gets late. Then there's Kasuga, who ends up being nicknamed Osaka because that's where she's from. Together, the six girls and the nine teachers all have hilarious adventures (for lack of a better word), and despite the series' short running (only 26 episodes), you won't want to forget a single one! ![]() Pictured here: Osaka kicks one of her shoes off, and as she and Chiyo watch the shoe fly into the street, it lands on top of a speeding truck. |

| Guest | I think I saw part of an episode where they're trying to make some sort of a proposal to make a TV show or save a school or something, and just as they're taking it to wherever it is they're taking it, a whole chain of events NEARLY makes them late. It was a little strange, but funny. |

| Guest | Azumanga Daioh is an interesting name, because it doesn't really mean anything in Japanese either. It is called that because it was originally a four panel comic strip by Azuma Kiyohiko in the magazine Dengeki Daioh. Certainly one of the better Animes (and Mangas) I've managed to get my hands on in these primitive dial-up-no-anime-club days in which I live. Chock full of good characters. ADV has gotten their hands on the American distribution rights, and has been releasing the comics already and plan to release the Anime some time this spring on their Anime Network and on DVD. |
