| Guest | +Last Exile on Anime Unleashed! - Tech TV has informed us that Geneon's Last Exile will be airing on Anime Unleashed starting the first week of March. Anime Unleashed will be on every weekday at 1am EST. +Manga Sees Starz in New Deal - Japanese animation distributor Manga Entertainment has just entered into an agreement with Starz for thirteen of Manga's anime films. The films will be featured on Starz's Action Channel. Among the titles in the pact are a number of Manga's most highly acclaimed titles including two seminal works by veteran animation director Mamoru Oshii, Ghost in the Shell and the Patlabor movies. Other Manga titles in the agreement include Production I.G.'s Blood: The Last Vampire, the masterful psychological thriller Perfect Blue from director Satoshi Kon (whose Tokyo Godfathers is currently playing in U.S. theaters), Black Magic M-66, Macross II: Lovers Again, Macross Plus, New Dominion Tank Police, Shadow Skill, X and the long-running video game-inspired series Street Fighter IIV and Fist of the North Star. +Tokyo Godfathers Strong in Limited Opening - Satoshi Kon's Tokyo Godfathers opened slightly stronger than his Millennium Actress, averaging $3,750 per screen in a very limited release. The film has done far better with critics than it has with audiences at least at this point. The Rotten Tomatoes Website gives Kon's latest anime feature a very strong 86% positive rating with 19 positive reviews and only 3 negative notices. +Cartoon Network Will Air Detective Conan - The Cartoon Network has announced that it has acquired broadcasting rights for the hugely popular (in Japan) anime series, Detective Conan. Detective Conan has consistently posted the top TV ratings for anime series in Japan over the past year -- and remains a top-rated show in spite of the fact that the series has now passed 350 episodes. Funimation, which owns the U.S. rights to Detective Conan, is currently producing the U.S. adaptation. +Gundam Seed Anime on the Cartoon Network in April - According to an announcement from Bandai America, the Cartoon Network will begin airing the latest Gundam anime series, Gundam Seed, on its weekend Action Block in April of 2004. Gundam Seed's appearance on the Cartoon Network will roughly coincide with the release of the first volume of the Gundam Seed manga from Del Rey on April 30. +Anime Network Extends Reach - The Anime Network, the first channel in the nation dedicated to Japanese anime, is expanding its U.S.-market coverage with the help of Comcast ON DEMAND, the cabler's video-on-demand service. The Anime net will rollout in Detroit, Indianapolis, Mobile, Savannah, Charleston, Huntsville, Atlanta, and Albuquerque during the rest of January. +Burn Up Scramble Licensed? - Reports from people who have seen the recently-aired first episode of Burn-Up Scramble state that Geneon Entertainment (USA) is credited as a producer in the end credits. +Transformers: Energon Anime Debuts January 31 - The most recent Transformers anime series, Transformers: Energon, debuts on the Cartoon Network's Saturday action/adventure block on January 31 at 7:30 pm (ET, PT). Dreamwave Productions is already chronicling the events of this series in its Transformers: Energon comic books. +World of Narue Website - CPM has launched their official World of Narue website. Current features include character bios, an art gallery and a trailer. http://www.centralparkmedia.com/narue/index.html +Megumi Hayashibara News - According to a number of posts on two credible Japanese message boards, one run by voice actor Soichiro Hoshi, the other run by the director and character designer of the Slayers TV series, Megumi Hayashibara announced Saturday (January 10) on her radio show that she is pregnant. There is much speculation over how this will affect her career and what will become of the characters she presently voices if she takes maternity leave later this year. +Digital Manga To Publish IWGP Manga - Digital Manga, which has co-published a number of highly successful manga titles with Dark Horse (including Trigun and Hellsing), as well as a line of "how-to-draw manga" books with Watson-Guptil, is planning to publish the IWGP manga series on its own this summer. +Bandit King Jing OAV - Production on the first of three episodes of the Bandit King Jing OAV episode was finished last week. The OAV was originally expected to be released in late 2003. +.Hack//Sign LE delayed - According to Bandai's website, it appears that they have delayed .hack//SIGN - Terminus Limited Edition. Originally scheduled for March 2nd, the Limited Edition is now listed for March 16th. +Wolf's Rain Finale Delayed - The Japanese releases of the final four episodes of Wolf's Rain have been delayed. DVD volume 9 with episodes 27 and 28 has been delayed until February 7th, and volume 10 with the last two episodes has been delayed without any new date announced. |

Adult Swim has acquired 50 episodes of Detective Conan, the first of which will premiere on Monday April 5th at 12:30 am. Wolf's Rain will premiere on Saturday, April 24th at 11pm, followed by the first of the new of Inu Yasha episodes at 11:30, two episodes will be shown. The Cartoon Network has announced that its Action Saturday series will begin on Saturday, April 17, with the television premiere of The Animatrix.
