No, YuYu Hakusho sucks ass. It isn't anything more than the cliché train and fight brawlers that plague airwaves where better shows should be receiving attention.

Sans the fact that the characters are truly very deep and the fights have explanations and actually show the fighters using their heads to get out of tight situations. Oh, and the fact that the good guys aren't really terribly good at that. If you honestly look at yuu Yuu Hakusho as a cliché fighting anime, you need to look closer.

Please, my cat has better character development. The only one who uses his head is Kurama. The others are just as stupid and idiotic as Goku and friends. I'll give it some credit for character development, what is there is good. But it isn't excessive enough that it is almost non-existent. It is cliché, just like Big O, Outlaw Star, DBZ, Flame of Recca(the anime not the manga), Saint Seiya/Knights of the Zodiac and many others. Oh yea, did I mention that the plot is totally predictable? Yea, I thought so.

YuYu Hakusho is nothing more than a train and fight. Please, give me something I haven't seen before.

Yu Yu Hakusho is not your standard train and fight. The fact that Yusuke doesn't win every time by sheer brute strength attests to this. How did he beat Hiei? Kazemaru? Rando?

There is also a strong emphasis on techniques. In DBZ techniques usually didn't make a difference-- it all came down to who could fly faster and throw a harder punch.

Ignorance, luck, and stupidity.

Well, in a sense, aren't all fighting manga sort of a train of fights with some character/plot development in between? If you're trying to say that there isn't enough characterization,or that the length of the fights aren't consistant with everything else,I know what you're talking about, regardless as to whether I agree or not.

However, everything can be classified as a series of something with something else in between,I guess I'm trying to say.

Jimmy, if you think Kurama is the only one that uses his brain to fight, you obviously haven't seen much of Yuu Yuu Hakusho.

I watched the series until the death of Genkai. Heh, that might have been sad if she had character development. I've seen more than enough to support my opinions.

What in the heck are you supporting your opinions on? Yusuke beat every opponent up to Rando with his mind. He beat Rando by luck. Then he beat most of his demon tournament matches out of a combination of skill and using his brain.

Kuwabara NEVER wins matches on his power. He wins using brilliant moves he comes up with just in time, usually thanks to either previous training or his high level of spirit awareness.

Hiei typically wins due to his insane speed and sword techniques. His matches are won on sheer skill. The exceptions are the times he's forced to use the Black Dragon technique. And against that one guy with the armor smoke things, even that required a little strategy.

Kurama is the only one who analyzes his opponents BEFORE trying to hit them.

And the characterization is very deep. You really get a feel for the kind of people the characters are.

Yu Yu Hakusho is good... I'll admit I never liked it much in the beginning( ), but warmed up to it later.

But it isn't as good or as in-depth as Cowboy Bebop, Evangelion, Hellsing, Kenshin, and a few others. Still very cool, though.

You might get a feel for the characters. But I sure didn't after the first ten episodes or so. The only one I felt for after that was Kurama during his whole mother thing.

No, Yusuke didn't use brains for Hiei, he just got lucky in his assumption that the mirror would reflect his Rei Gun. The rest is just bashing, and last time I checked, Kuwabara either lost or got lucky as well.

It's kind of hypocritical of you to say that it is set apart from Dragonball by characters using smarts instead of speed and punches after which you turn around and say that Hiei wins by sheer speed and skill. Heh.

You sure Kuwabara uses his head? Cuz in performance in the Dark tournement has been pretty ****ty thus far. He beat that one guy by sheer stupidity cuz whats her face called out to him. (Speaking of which does he fall for every new pretty girl he meets or something?)

So far i've seen more of the fighting than the training Jimmy keeps complaining about. Lets see...you have the Genkai tournement finale...theres one....before the dark tournement...2...and Yusuke getting the spirit wave...but that doesn't really count. So we have 2.

Now DBZ...king of train and fighters.
1. After Goku dies
2. On the way to Namek
3. After Namek
4. After future Trunks
5. After getting the **** kicked out of them.
6. **** kicked out of them....again.
7. Again.
8. Again.
9. pre-Cell Games
10. post-Goku dead again.
11. pre-WMT
12. After WMT
13. During Maijin Buu's reign of destruction.
14. Again
15. Again.
16. During the attack of Evil Buu.
I counted 16 total from the last time I watched. There's probably alot i'm still missing.

Kuwabara beat Byakko using his brain, and he damn near beat that little kid using his brain. I admit he's an ox, but he's nowhere near as stupid as he seems.

Jimmy, you seem to have forgone the fact that like the first five episodes had minimal fighting, and were pretty muc hthere just to show us what kind of people Kuwabara, Keiko, and Yusuke are--as well as the secondary characters like Koenma. Kurama's episode was given over to showing his story. Hiei's story didn't come out for a long time, but he's the strong silent type. I might act like that too if I went through what he did.

Oh, and I said that Hiei MAINLY relied on sheer skill and speed. He sticks with what works. He's the only one who doesn't seem to need to consistently use his mind to win matches--as opposed to Yusuke and Kuwabara(point in case: Kuwabara loses when he doesn't think). Perhaps a majority of Yusuke's fights DID allow him to win on brute strenght--but the important ones required thought.

And you seem to have not noticed that is what I liked about the first 10 episodes or so. After Yusuke was brought back to life the series goes downhill fast.

I will admit that I was glad that they omitted training from the overall story. It is the concept of training and becoming exponentially more powerful that makes it DBZ laughable.
