What is so wrong with sailor moon? All I ever see is people saying its an idiotic show yeah its mostly made for the girl audience, so what. I'm guessing that every one goes by what they showed in America, the "dubbed" version. In the subbed its completely different and the DIC version sucks. So why is it that people hate this show so much?

It just seems to be lacking any substance. When I see Sailor Moon all I see is a bunch of scantily clad animated females and some talking cats.

^^Lucky dog. Was she showing her pants and squealing at the time, like she does in the cartoon?

My main problem with 'Sailor Moon' is the basic problem I have with anyone who uses the power of love to shoot death-rays at her enemies. I mean, not that I'm criticising, but I'd think embracing a doctrine of love would preclude impaling one's foes through the lungs with lances of fire.

I love the first season of it (err..... up to Queen Beryl's defeat, whenever that is). After that, it started dragging, and then it really dragged on. :/ It's like how in Pokemon, Team Rocket appears again, and again, and again...

I still have Queen Beryl's defeat on video, though. Watched it a few months ago. WHEE~

If you think it's repititive, read the manga. The manga rules. (I have all 18 books)

Why would the mangas be any better? Then again I hate this sort of series.

Its very repetitive in other areas other than story. Particularly seeing the monster keep dying with the same exact move as last time. I mean don't thse *****es get the idea they should have these things ready to go before they pretend to kick/punch the enemy which doesn't do much anyway. Saves time in the generic "gotta beat the villian before a certain time" episodes.

Seriously, I tihnk that the series is okay, but just excessively campy. But some campiness is cool.

I like the Magna. I don't like it that Serena's name had been replace with "Bunny" Though.

No. Actually, I've never sat down and watched an episode of any Gundam show. (I have some of the models, though. Models are great.)

uh... that's her japanese name. Well, sort of. Her name "Usagi" translates to "Bunny."

Okay, you know what? Some translators are just bat-**** stupid. because 'Usagi' means 'Bunny' doesn't mean she sould be called freaking bunny. Every name means something. My name means manly/courageous/leader. I don't walk around and say "Hi, I'm Manly! How the hell are ya?" like some mentally handicapped dingus.

God DAMN just call her Usagi in the english translation you nimrods...

^ Sorta reminds me of .hack//SIGN with the Crimson Knight/Ginkan issue. Is the guy called Silver Knight as his name translates too...or should he have been just Ginkan?

^^That sounds like a phenomenal way of meeting women. "I'm manly, babe. Don't try to fight it; my raw, pulsating sexuality will wear down your defences like a flan in the dishwasher." Self-confidence, man--it's effective.

It's the choice of the translator, and whether the choice is a good one depends on the circumstances. The name "bunny" is a cultural allusion to the legend that there are rabbits living on the moon (as opposed to cheese, I guess). Since such a legend is essentially unknown in Western cultures, it was rather pointless to make a literal translation of the name. Hey, perhaps some Native American tribesmen watching the show would get the joke.

On a side note, there are people who go around greeting others with "Hi, I'm Sitting Bull/Swallow Behind the Tree/Diving Hawk." Are you going to tell them that they are wrong?
